There are other influences that can whittle away at our body self-images and self-esteem. I call them saboteurs. These are the people in our lives who say or do things that have the potential to negatively impact our feelings and the choices we make. For example, peer pressure from friends who coax you into joining them for yet another high-caloric lunch at a restaurant, or a spouse or partner who brings junk food into your home even though you are trying to improve your eating habits.
One of the worst enemies is often ourselves! We may be unaware of the frequency with which we put ourselves down or tell ourselves we are not worthy or capable of change. For example, have you ever been complimented and responded with self-deprecating humor or another type of put down?
When you become aware of your inner thoughts and dialog, you can learn strategies to change how you think. You can train yourself to develop a more positive self-image. It takes practice and skill. It's not always easy, but it's a worthwhile pursuit. My book is filled with tools and strategies to help you overcome your negative self-talk.

Your inner voice can become your greatest ally. You ARE capable of whatever you set your mind to. You CAN lose unwanted weight--when you learn smart, safe, realistic approaches--which I teach in my book. You CAN improve many aspects of your physical and mental health, at any age and at any stage. You CAN get fit. You CAN feel better. You ARE worthy of investing time, energy and resources in YOU.
